Front End Developer

FRONT-END DEVELOPER
 
The Front End Developer is responsible for the page development, coding, testing, management and ongoing optimization of the corporate website and associated web properties.
 
ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Provide front-end production support for the corporate website templates
• Assist with website content updates and QA process as required
• Lead the maintenance of and code enhancements to the system of templates
• Assist Client IT resources in ensuring seamless back-end functionality within the templates
• Assist Client's hosting partners in troubleshooting issues with the website(s)
• Work with external and internal stakeholders on long-term website initiatives
• Provide front-end code thought leadership within the organization
• Ensure web pages are SEO friendly as required
• Apply the latest code and design methodologies and best practices on an ongoing basis
• Work with analytics and data insights, as well as other stakeholders, to support continuous web improvements
• Implement front-end code and related front-end technologies, including jQuery, to support various ad-hoc marketing campaigns as needed
• Assist in integrating third-party plug-ins and other software or tools within the Client's web environment
• Assist with integrating analytics tracking snippets within the web templates as needed
• Manage all projects from inception to completion
 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
LEVEL OF EDUCATION
• Degree or diploma from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience
 
JOB RELATED EXPERIENCE
• Strong understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3
• Understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
• Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
• Good understanding of Bootstrap and AngularJS frameworks
• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates and AJAX
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, Beanstalk and SVN
• Working knowledge of image authoring tools; ability to crop, resize or perform small adjustments on images using tools such as Gimp or Photoshop is required
• Strong project management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with cross functional departments with competing priorities
• Team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide others when necessary
• Good technical knowledge with the ability to pick up new tools quickly
• Ability to produce results within strict timelines
• Strong web design skills
• Strong knowledge of UX and UI best practices
• Demonstration of positive, service-oriented attitude
• Strong documentation skills
 
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND
• Minimum of 5 years’ front-end development experience with a client, agency or professional services firm
• Good working knowledge of the latest methodologies and best practices as they pertain to front-end development and design
• Proven track record of developing within a mobile first or responsive environment
• Experience with web project management best practices to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner
• Proven experience managing current coding standards, structures and libraries
• Experience managing multiple deadlines within a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with CMS platforms (WordPress, Expression Engine, SiteCore, etc.)
