6389 - Contract Administrator

Category: Engineering Work Type: Contract Location: Tiverton, ON

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of contract strategies and act as the single point of contact for assigned functional support
  • Develop and implement contract strategies consistent with operating plans, taking into account the marketplace and the needs of the customer
  • Investigate and assess industry capability to ensure compatibility between Bruce Power requirements and industry capacity and quality standards
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal customers and local, national and international vendor communities as appropriate
  • Provide support, guidance, commercial oversight and a center of expertise to the business on the workings of contracts and ensure compliance as applicable
  • Establish contract management plans, measure and monitor commercial/technical performance and provide regular reporting
  • Maintain and update Vendor database
  • Assist in the review of requisitions, draft specifications/contracts for completeness and establish that acceptable quality requirements and acceptance criteria are specified and that all regulatory requirements are met
  • Assist in the review of Tendering Documents/Requests for Proposal and approval of bidder's lists
  • Evaluate supplier facilities, staffing and quality assurance programs to establish capabilities
  • Assist or negotiate contracts, clarifying Bruce Power requirements to potential suppliers and communicate information between suppliers and Bruce Power stakeholders
  • Administer contracts to ensure contractual obligations are met


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Negotiating experience with contracts
  • Working knowledge of codes and standards as they relate to procurement of services and experience dealing with regulatory bodies during audits
  • Experience in the procurement of services, materials, tools and equipment
  • Requires fundamental purchasing knowledge, general quality management, contract law, negotiating skills, insurance, foreign exchange, terms of payment and Business Administration to carry out the service contract purchasing process
  • Requires knowledge of mathematics and basic financial practices and procedures to perform commercial evaluations, assign taxes and duties, and to administer contracts
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to persuade and influence others
  • Ability to develop/analyze alternative purchasing strategies and execute same
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaterally with others, contributing to good working relations and teamwork
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve task results consistent with requirements for safety, quality, quantity, timeliness and resource allowance
  • Demonstrated abilities to plan, organize and control work activities to effectively and efficiently meet established objectives and concurrent projects



  • Knowledge requirement is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of University education in appropriate field or by having the equivalent level of experience
  • 5-7 years’ experience in related field
