Job Description
  • Design engineer from Mechanical or Nuclear discipline with nuclear design experience.
  • Good knowledge of CANDU nuclear power plant design and operation
  • Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO), or eligible for PEO status
  • knowledge of CSA N285.0 as well as ASME Section III Subsections NB, NC, ND, NF, ASME B31.1 and ASME Section VIII
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve task results consistent with requirements for safety, quality, quantity and resource allowance.
  • Good comprehension, written and verbal and presentation skills using English as the workplace language.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact positively with others by developing trust, mutual respect and co-operative working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and organize work to meet objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities, deadlines and heavy work loads.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and be self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of design engineering standards, practices and processes within the discipline.
  • Strong leadership skills and high degree of accountability and engagement.

  • A high degree of initiative, self-motivation, flexibility and the ability to work with minimal guidance in a team environment.

Education and Experience

  • A four year degree in engineering from a recognized university or equivalent, preferably in mechanical, Nuclear or chemical engineering.
  • Must be a member of PEO
  • Understanding of the principles of work planning, control and project management.
  • Experience in the design/maintenance/operation of major Mechanical Pressure Boundary Fluid systems and components.
  • Experience with the design/operation of a CANDU plant nuclear systems.
  • Ability to resolve safety issues and engineering deficiencies through engineering assessments and engineered solutions.
  • Experience in conducting studies, writing reports, and making recommendations.
  • Knowledge of nuclear engineering programs and standards.
  • Qualification in the area of ASME Section III Appendix XXIII will be considered an asset.
  • A period of over 6 is considered necessary to gain this experience.
