Project Title: Inspection & Reactor Innovation
Job Overview
Inspection and Reactor Innovation has developed a valuable offering providing services to OPG as well as external clients. Given its unique capabilities and position in the marketplace, an opportunity exists to invest in innovation. The purpose of this position is to manage multiple internal and external innovation projects at the early stages within the organization and streamline a process to invest in these innovations to mature them into larger projects.
The individual will lead teams to ensure that the selected innovations fit with the overall business strategy and meet the fast paced nature of the turnaround times to meet the business objectives. The selected candidate will have interactions and present to Senior staff at OPG.
• Support the development of a newly created section, NDE Technology Innovation in Inspection and Reactor Innovation
• Lead the OPG pitch competition and similar innovation initiatives and maintain a relationship with vendor/s to market, plan and execute the event
• Research innovation solutions, frameworks, and methodologies to address specific project needs
• Able to understand NDE technologies and their application in the energy sector
• Passionate about new technology development
• Lead the preparation of or prepare Project related deliverables such as Business Case Summaries, Project Charters etc.
• Establish innovation frameworks to identify, prioritize, structure, and solve problems
• Interview and gather data, conduct internal and external research, and issues analyses (e.g., assessment of competitor landscape)
• Facilitate strategic workshop sessions with key internal and external stakeholders
• Develop effective working relationships with senior stakeholders (internally and externally)
• Execute rapid proofs of concept and solicit targeted feedback from key strategy stakeholder groups
• Synthesize findings and recommendations for presentations and reports
• Knowledge Sharing / Documentation
• Provide project roadmap, and summary reports of each project phase to key stakeholders
• Contribute to the success of the business by ensuring work quality of the highest level
Education (degree):
• Outstanding academic background
• MBA from a top tier program is an asset
• Must have sound understanding of Project Management principles
• PMP designation is an asset
• NDE Knowledge or certification is an asset
• Knowledge of UAV (Drones) would be considered an asset
• Experience in Power Generation would be considered an asset
Key Skills:
• Demonstrated experience in successfully implementing an innovation strategy and/ or department
• Knowledge of innovation tools including experience using innovation development frameworks and models that will interface with the marketplace
• Demonstrated strategic thinking skills and experience in executing on the details of an innovation strategy including innovation processes and systems
• Proven experience with innovation strategy development, competitive strategy, and scenario planning
• Outstanding qualitative research, and presentation skills at a Senior Management level
• Ability to synthesize interview data and integrate into meaningful reports and recommendations
• Strong organizational and communications skills
• Comfort working in a virtual environment
Other Qualifications:
• High degree of comfort working in an unstructured environment that requires solving complex, open-ended issues with incomplete data and little direction
• Outstanding attention to detail
• Ability to be self-directed and contribute to engagements
• Collegial team player who can work in a small team environment

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work effectively with and influence senior leaders
