Project Title: Inspection & Reactor Innovation
 
Job Overview
 
Inspection and Reactor Innovation has developed a valuable offering providing services to OPG as well as external clients. Given its unique capabilities and position in the marketplace, an opportunity exists to invest in innovation. The purpose of this position is to design a sustainable innovation process for this newly created group, Inspection and Reactor Innovation, that complements the culture and practices at Ontario Power Generation. The individual will work on a team to develop a departmental vision, strategy and organizational structure to design a sustainable innovation process for the newly created group. The selected candidate will have interactions and present to Senior staff at OPG.
 
1. Support the development of a newly created group, Inspection and Reactor Innovation
2. Lead the OPG pitch competition initiative and maintain a relationship with vendor/s to market, plan and execute the event
3. Research innovation solutions, frameworks, and methodologies to address specific project needs
4. Establish innovation frameworks to identify, prioritize, structure, and solve problems
5. Interview and gather data, conduct internal and external research, and issues analyses (e.g., assessment of competitor landscape)
6. Facilitate strategic workshop sessions with key internal and external stakeholders
7. Develop effective working relationships with senior stakeholders (internally and externally)
8. Execute rapid proofs of concept and solicit targeted feedback from key strategy stakeholder groups
9. Synthesize findings and recommendations for presentations and reports
10. Knowledge Sharing / Documentation
11. Provide project roadmap, and summary reports of each project phase to key stakeholders
12. Contribute to the success of the business by ensuring work quality of the highest level
13. Demonstrated experience in successfully implementing an innovation strategy and/ or department
14. Knowledge of innovation tools including experience using innovation development frameworks and models that will interface with the marketplace
15. Demonstrated strategic thinking skills and experience in executing on the details of an innovation strategy including innovation processes and systems
16. Proven experience with innovation strategy development, competitive strategy, and scenario planning
17. Outstanding qualitative research, and presentation skills at a Senior Management level
18. Ability to synthesize interview data and integrate into meaningful reports and recommendations
19. Strong organizational and communications skills
20. Comfort working in a virtual environment
 
Qualifications
 
Education (degree):
21. Outstanding academic background
22. MBA from a top tier program is an asset
 
Years of Experience:
23. Minimum of 10 years of experience in one of the following:
24. Strategy development and operations consulting in an innovation strategy consulting firm
25. Strategic planning function of a global organization
26. Experience with development of Innovation process is an asset
 
Key Skills:
27. Demonstrated experience in successfully implementing an innovation strategy and/ or department
28. Knowledge of innovation tools including experience using innovation development frameworks and models that will interface with the marketplace
29. Demonstrated strategic thinking skills and experience in executing on the details of an innovation strategy including innovation processes and systems
