Project Title: Project Support for Darlington Refurbishment Radiation Protection
Job Overview
Reporting to the Radiation Protection (RP) Manager, the duties and accountabilities are similar to those for a Nuclear Station RP Section Manager.
Provide the expertise, experience, strategies and leadership in support of major RP initiatives such as source term, contamination, and risk reduction activities to reduce worker dose and prevent radiological events during the refurbishment of Unit 2 at Darlington.
More specifically for Nuclear Refurbishment RP:
1. Mentorship of new RP staff and knowledge transfer - to ensure valuable RP knowledge and operating experience are transferred and retained within the Refurbishment RP organization.
2. Coordinate and support the Nuclear Refurbishment RP project initiatives such as the procurement of new Radiation Protection Personal Equipment (RPPE) for NR specific hazards.
3. Coordinate and support the RP Training group with the procurement and implementation of RP Training Simulation Equipment.
Education - expert level Radiation Protection and Health Physics knowledge, all aspects.
Experience - Former RP Field experience at a Section Manager, Manager or FLM level with significant experience at a NPP, particularly Outage experience and ideally with Refurb experience. In-depth knowledge of the radiological conditions and operational experience which are unique to Darlington and Unique to Unit 2. The individual must have extensive knowledge related to field/operational radiation protection and health physics practices and procedures, in addition to having a good working knowledge regarding the operation of a nuclear facility.
Skills - Recognized ability to provide clear presentations on complicated problems and issues to senior managers and decision makers with well founded recommendations. Proven ability to lead small and large teams to investigate technical issues to determine the source of the radiological issue.
